The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has collected and reported data on the generation and disposal of waste in the United States for more than 30 years. We use this information to measure the success of waste reduction and recycling programs across the country.

The EPP Program’s mission is to promote the purchase of EPPs to state and local agencies and departments throughout the Commonwealth for the purpose of fostering the practice of responsible purchasing choices that are cost effective and reduce the impact of such purchases on public health and the environment. The primary goal of the EPP Program is to use the Commonwealth’s purchasing power to reduce the environmental and public health impact of state government and foster markets for EPPs.

Sustainable Pennsylvania, a joint project of the Pennsylvania Municipal League and Sustainable Pittsburgh, is a voluntary performance recognition program designed to help municipalities set and achieve sustainability goals, save money, conserve resources, and foster a vibrant community.
The Pennsylvania Municipal League is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established in 1900 as an advocate for Pennsylvania’s 3rd class cities. Today, The League represents participating Pennsylvania cities, boroughs, townships, home rule communities and towns that all share The League’s municipal policy interests.
