Description:
One important way for municipalities to reduce their impact on the environment is through the generation and use of renewable energy to power their operations. For many municipalities, this can include the installation of solar panels and geothermal systems on municipal properties and the electrification of fleet vehicles. For some communities, hydroelectric, wind, or nuclear power could provide opportunities for diverse, clean power sources. Even in cases when a municipality cannot own or maintain a renewable system on its own, it can still elect to switch its electric sourcing from fossil fuels to renewables by working with its electricity supplier.
